Residential Accommodation

52 week Accommodation

Cruckton Hall benefits from having a number of houses able to accommodate children who require the service 52 weeks per annum. Units such as Belvidere House, Harlescott and The Barn are examples. During school holidays a wide range of recreational activities are undertaken by these young people and close liaison is maintained with the local social worker and family to assist their transition back to the home area as soon as possible.

Main House and Callow View

The Main House provides accommodation for 34 pupils. There are 18 single rooms, 4 double rooms and 2 x 4 bedded rooms. This house is for pupils within the age range of approximately 12-14 and affords varying levels of independence. Some young people enjoy the privacy of a single room whilst others prefer to share and this is accommodated. A risk assessment is undertaken when a shared room is considered.

The Main House has a large communal lounge, TV room, games room and a further lounge on the top floor. It is at the hub of the Cruckton site and there is a regular programme of recreational activities both in the evenings and at weekends.

Elizabeth House

This 3 bedroomed unit is used to accommodate mainly primary aged children. There are three twin bedrooms and a risk assessment is undertaken when pupils are being chosen to share a room. The house has a homely atmosphere, and the pupils in this home attend the Cruckton Junior School.

The Barn

This beautiful converted barn accommodates 5 young people, 3 in single bedrooms and 2 in a twin room. The children are in the age range 11 15 and this unit provides 52 week accommodation. The Barn is situated just off the main Cruckton campus in a quiet cul-de-sac in the village of Cruckton.

The Woodlands

The Woodlands consists of 3 similar houses which are interconnected Ash, Beech and Cedar. Ash and Beech both have five single bedrooms and Cedar has six single bedrooms. The Woodlands offers superior accommodation for pupils aged 8 15, who require a quieter and more focused residential provision. The children in The Woodlands sometimes participate in the recreational activities organised by the Main House and also have the opportunity to participate in their own activity programme when they wish.

Belvidere House

This house is situated on an estate in the middle of Shrewsbury. It provides single bedroom accommodation for 5 young people aged 11 15. Currently, most of these pupils need 52 week provision. The house is within walking distance of Shrewsbury town centre and enables the pupils to participate easily in community activities. All young people within this unit attend Cruckton Hall School.
